Clearwater Florida. Nov. 20, 2015 –   The dental practice of Dr. David D. Gianino in Lunenburg participated with MGE Management Experts Inc. and the U.S. Marines in support of the Toys for Tots Literacy Campaign at the National, November Owner’s Conference in Tampa Bay, celebrating reaching over one million children just from this group in the last couple of years.

This year, MGE and Dr. David Gianino have joined the U.S. Marine Corps in supporting the Toys for Tots National Youth Literacy Program, a charity which is supported nationwide by Disney, Macy’s, General Dynamics and many other top sponsors, and its Youth Literacy Program is especially backed by United Parcel Service.

The semi-annual conference brings together participants from all parts of North America for specialized training, practice reviews, and fundraising celebrations to benefit national youth literacy.

This year’s event opened dramatically with a performance by a Marine Color Guard and an ROTC Rifle Exhibition; honoring Veterans and the Marine Corp. In addition to three days of educational events, large sums were raised at the conference through charity auctions, direct support by committed dental practices, and the open Casino night that has become a favorite highlight of the event over the years.

This event highlighted MGE and its partners achieving the target of supporting over one million children with this program. The program purpose is to enable disadvantaged youth nationwide to compete academically. “Improving literacy gives kids a fighting chance to become productive and successful individuals,” said Dr. Gianino.

According to the National Center for Education, approximately 10.9 million U.S. school-age children 5 to 17 years old are from families living in poverty. Research shows that living in poverty during early childhood is associated with lower than average academic performance that begins in kindergarten and extends through elementary and high school. So, to address this problem and giving these children the tools to succeed, all Proceeds of the event have been directed to the Improving Youth Literacy campaign that supplies books and audio books to the Boys and Girls Club and youth programs nationwide.

Dr. David Gianino and his group joined the annual fundraising auction and Casino night which has become a hallmark of the annual practice management conference. Among the top auction items was a half-hour Skype session personally with a U.S. astronaut, an all-inclusive 5-day resort vacation at any Sandals resort in the Caribbean, fashion items from Rebecca Minkoff and other design icons, a NYC fossil hunt with the TV host of Born to Explore, Disney passes for any park worldwide, and many other items.

The MGE conference is known as a highly entertaining professional event and fundraising engine for causes endorsed by its membership. It has been held semi-annually in Tampa Bay for many years, attended by professionals from across North America as well as local business and social leaders.
