What Should You Expect When You Call Into Our Office With a Dental Emergency?

Are you having any of the following dental problems?

  • Hot Sensitivity
  • Cold Sensitivity
  • Discomfort when biting down on something
  • Throbbing Pain
  • Dull Aches
  • “Zings” when area of concern is exposed to air

When you call into our office to schedule an emergency dental visit, we will first ask you what area of the mouth is bothering you and when did it start. We will ask you to try and tell us what the pain and or discomfort feels like; do you have sensitivity to hot and cold or when biting down on something and how long have you been experiencing this discomfort for.

Once we have gathered all of this information, we will work with you to find a time that works best for your schedule to see you as soon as we can. Once we get you scheduled you will come in to see Dr. Gianino and one of his assistants. They will talk to you about what is going on in your mouth and what you are experiencing.

From there they will take an x-ray of the problem area and then the Dentist will take a look at the x-ray and figure out what is causing the discomfort and what we need to do to fix it . If need be, the Dentist will prescribe you an antibiotic to fight the infection and/or pain medication to make you comfortable.

After a diagnosis has been made we will then bring you up front to our Patient Coordinator where she will go over the cost for the services he needs to perform to take care of the problem you are experiencing.

On a side note our Patient Coordinator is amazing at helping you get this cost to fit into your budget if need be, this may mean setting up a payment plan or applying for Wells Fargo or Care Credit. Our goal is to simply help you in the most comfortable and convenient way possible.

From there, you will see our schedule coordinator and she will schedule an appointment to have the problem taken care of and walk you out for your visit you had with us that day.

Overall it is our main concern to have you seen as soon as we possibly can, not only to diagnose the problem but to then have it taken care of. Our patients comfort and quality of care is our main concern.

If you are a patient who is experiencing any discomfort or pain, whether it is mild or severe, we are here to help you , so take advantage of that. Your oral health is very important, so don’t allow for it to be put on the back burner until the situation worsens.

The sooner you address it the sooner you will be feeling better and back in great condition to go on enjoying your everyday life without that pesky discomfort going on in your mouth!

Oil pulling is a type of Ayurvedic medicine (a traditional Indian system) that dates back 3,000 years involving the swishing of oil around the mouth for 15-20 minutes. This was a way to cleanse the mouth back before modern dentistry had been developed. Now, we can get the same benefits from simply swishing any mouthwash containing fluoride for 30 seconds and go on with the rest of our day.
