How Fixing My Smile Gave me Confidence and Improved My Life
Amanda Delorme

When I was under the age of eighteen I needed a root canal, and unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control,   I was not able to get the root canal completed before my tooth broke.  I had to get my tooth extracted.  I was devastated that I was going to have a hole in a spot where my smile would show this gap.  I am one that loves to smile and laugh and having my smile be affected because of my missing tooth really bothered me and definitely brought my confidence down.

When I first started coming to Dr Gianino in 2002, I let him know that having a missing tooth bothered me a lot.  I wanted my confidence back; I wanted to be happy and smiling again.  Dr Gianino listened to all of my concerns and developed a treatment plan to address my specific needs.

I started Invisalign in 2012, the loss of my tooth made my teeth shift and being in braces for 5 years in the past it was extremely important to me that my teeth looked really good.  In 2014, towards the completion of Invisalign, I was referred to the oral surgeon to get started with my implant. I have been waiting eight years to have this tooth fixed. I was so happy that I was getting this started after all these years of waiting very impatiently, I might add.

I received my surgical Implant at the oral surgeons in 2014. I went through the healing process, which took about 12 weeks and was a fairly easy process.  Dr Gianino worked very hard to make sure that I would be happy with the final crown to fit my smile and make me feel confident with my smile again.

The day I went home with my new tooth,  I walked in the front door of my home smiling like you wouldn’t believe.  My family instantly noticed my new tooth. I don’t know about anyone else’s family but mine takes  a little bit to notice if I even get a new haircut, but for them to notice my tooth that day made me feel so confident and I knew it truly looked amazing. Since I’ve had my permanent  crown placed, I cannot stop smiling.  It is such a great feeling knowing that I have a nice smile again.

If any of this sounds like something you have gone through you should definitely contact Dr Gianino and see how he can give you back the confidence you once had.

If you have never had the pleasure of brushing a child’s mouth with their arms and legs flailing while they’re screaming and crying, consider yourself lucky. In my house, wrestling 2.5 year old twins every night to get their teeth brushed and flossed properly is a full contact sport and completely worth the effort. Here’s why:

Oil pulling is a type of Ayurvedic medicine (a traditional Indian system) that dates back 3,000 years involving the swishing of oil around the mouth for 15-20 minutes. This was a way to cleanse the mouth back before modern dentistry had been developed. Now, we can get the same benefits from simply swishing any mouthwash containing fluoride for 30 seconds and go on with the rest of our day.
